I have a HP Envy laptop. Every time I unplug it, it will restart itself every 10 minutes or so. An error message will pop up saying the computer needs to restart. It is not the same error every time. Two of the errors I've seen are "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and "INTERRUPT_EXCEPTIPN_NOT_HANDLED". I've checked for driver updates and any issues with the PC. I can't find a solution anywhere

Hi @UpInSmoke7886,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

Does the laptop run normally when plugged in, with no crashes at all?

Did this behavior start after a recent Windows update, BIOS update, or driver installation?

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  •  Battery/Power test: Run HP’s built‑in hardware diagnostics (press F2 at startup) and specifically test the battery and AC adapter. A failing battery can sometimes trigger system instability when unplugged.
  •  Update chipset and power drivers: Go to HP’s support page for your exact Envy model and install the latest chipset, Intel Management Engine, and power management drivers. These often fix issues related to switching between AC and battery power.
  •  Check graphics drivers: Stop codes like IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and INTERRUPT_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED can be linked to graphics drivers. Update your Intel/NVIDIA/AMD drivers directly from HP support website
  • Disable fast startup: In Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do, disable fast startup. This can reduce instability when switching power states.
  •  BIOS reset: Enter BIOS setup (F10 at boot) and restore defaults. Sometimes power management settings get corrupted.
  • Test in Safe Mode: Boot into Safe Mode while on battery. If the crashes stop, it points to a driver conflict rather than hardware.

I hope this helps
