Hey, I have a HP's laptop am using since am year or some, yesterday i faced a problem like, when i turned on my laptop, i pressed it lightly so I thought it didn't turn on, then I pressed the button again and it got shut down, then when i turned it on, i recieved a screen saying that the cooling system isn't probably working and my laptop will shut down, i waited for it to shut down then I turned on the laptop again, then it was normal. After a few mins, the battery was low so i plugged in the charger, then i noticed that my laptop isn't getting charged. The light's blinking when connected the charger, i see the charging logo on the battery but it's stuck on 11%. Please help me

@User6628, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're facing an issue where your HP laptop isn't charging properly and is stuck at 11%, even though the charging icon appears and the LED is blinking. Let's walk through some steps to help resolve this.

Perform a Hard Reset

This helps clear temporary hardware glitches.

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Unplug the charger and remove any connected peripherals.
  • If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and charger, then power on the laptop.

Check the AC Adapter and Charging Port

  • Ensure the adapter is firmly connected and not loose.
  • Try a different wall outlet.
  • Inspect the charging port for dust or damage.
  • If available, test with a different HP-compatible charger.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

HP provides built-in diagnostics to check battery health.

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Power it on and immediately press Esc, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Select Component Tests > Power > Battery.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

You can also download the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool here: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support

Update BIOS and Battery Drivers

Outdated firmware or drivers can cause charging issues.

  • Go to Device Manager → expand Batteries.
  • Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery → select Uninstall.
  • Restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

To update BIOS and other drivers: Official HP® Support

Enter your laptop's model number to find the correct updates.

Check Battery Health in HP Support Assistant

  • Open HP Support Assistant (or download it here - HP Support Assistant | HP® Support).
  • Go to Battery Check under the My Devices tab.
  • Review the battery status and health report.

Battery Calibration (if needed)

If the battery percentage is stuck, calibration may help. HP has a guide: HP Notebook PCs - Testing and calibrating the battery (Windows) | HP® Support

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, the battery or charging circuit may be faulty. In that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - India | HP® Support
(Select the country from the dropdown menu and enter the city name or pincode)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
