A few weeks ago my power supply stopped charging my battery. The battery still held a charge and the computer slowly died. Eventually my computer shut down and wouldn't turn on again even when I had the power supply plugged in. I ordered a new power supply and just received it in the mail.
My laptop now turns on when I have the new power supply plugged in, but the battery no longer holds a charge. As soon as I take out the power cord the PC immediately turns off. I assumed the issue may be with the battery so I ran the HP PC Diagnostics program and ran a test on the battery. The result was "Failure" with an error code of 9C13J1-5NR9A2-XD6V5F-C0CB13
What does that code mean and what is the next step for me?
Thank you,
Michael

Hi
It means "Battery1"
Failure Information Failure Code 601
Device Power
Includes AC Adaptor, Battery, Cache Battery Pack, Charger, Power Cord, Power Supply
which is probably telling you less than you already know.
This may help.....

Also there may have been a safety recall
but probably not this...

Thanks for the info. What's weird though is that when I run the battery check in the HP Support Assistant program it passes the test and says the battery is fine.
I guess I'm just confused if the issue is the new AC Adapter I bought not being compatible somehow, or if the issue is my battery needing replaced. The battery was holding a charge and working fine right before it shut off last... so I was hoping that error code would give me more information.
