I recently purchased hp 17t-by400. I didn't realize it had 720p screen. I was unable to cancel the order. I love the laptop except the screen. It has limited resolution and being glossy it reflects a lot.
I purchased 798926-009 screen.
It occasionally get to work but the picture is limited to only part of
it. Please refer to picture attached.
When I reboot bios does not recognize it but recognize external monitor if I attach second monitor.
I removed intel driver, updated driver and I even reinstall windows but but no luck. Display settings does not give me option higher then 1600x900.
It almost seems like HP software or bios is limiting the possibility.
I would really appreciate any suggestions. I am really relying on this community to make it work.

i need to upgrade the cable to upgrade my screen from HD+ aka 720p to FHD aka 1080p.
I will need cable L22520-001 which is not available anywhere. In fact most of the display cables are not easily available making it impossible to upgrade screen if you don’t like what you ordered. Hope that helps someone.
i have to get rid of the laptop. Also important to note here that I realized that I ordered wrong screen, contacted hp right away but couldn’t get response at all and couldn’t change order.
At this point as I have upgraded memory and other stuff thinking I will be able to change screen as well. I think I am out of luck. Lesson learned.

Hi@mithun2005, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand you have issues playing videos full screen on your PC.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
What is the browser you are using to play videos on your PC?
Did you make any hardware or software changes on your laptop?
Have you tried checking with a different browser?
Please provide the product number of your laptop to assist you better.
Try the steps recommended below.
Check the Resolution and DPI settings on the computer.
Click on Settings and then in the window that appears, click System. The very first option in the left pane is called Display. While selecting that option, see the right pane to check if the display is scaled up or down. It should be showing 100.
Then click on Advanced Display Settings.
Set the Resolution is set to the Recommended - whatever that may be for your specific computer set up. You may be prompted to restart the computer. Once those changes are made, you can try playing the videos again and see if that resolved the issue for you.
a) Press Windows and x key on your desktop and click on Device Manager.
b) Expand ‘Display Adapter’.
c) Locate the display driver.
d) Right-click on the display card listed and click on ‘Update Driver Software’
If you are using google chrome try the steps recommended below.
Open Google Chrome. Chrome contains a “hardware acceleration” feature that helps boost performance. Unfortunately, the feature can also cause issues with tabs and scrolling.[6] Many Chrome users experiencing issues with the full-screen mode in YouTube report that disabling hardware acceleration solved the issue.
Click the ⁝ menu and select “Settings.” This will open the Settings page in its own tab.
Click the “Show advanced settings” link. You may need to scroll down to see it, as it’s at the bottom of the page.
Scroll down to the “System” header. It’s just beneath “Accessibility."
Remove the check next to “Use hardware acceleration when available.” This will disable hardware acceleration in your browser.
Navigate to https://www.youtube.com and click any video. Now you’ll need to test whether or not disabling hardware acceleration worked for you.
If the issue still persists after trying out the steps try resetting the browser.
Click the ⁝ menu and select “Settings.” A new tab containing the Settings screen will appear.
Click the “Show Advanced Settings” link. This link is at the bottom of the settings page. Clicking it will expand more settings.
Click the “Reset Settings” button. You may have to scroll down to see it, as it’s the final entry on the Settings page. A box will appear with a “Reset” button.
Click “Reset.” Your browser’s settings will be restored to the way they were when you first installed Chrome.
Try viewing a YouTube video in full-screen mode. Hopefully resetting Chrome solved your full-screen issues for now.

thank you for responding to my question Praveen.
I didn’t clarify the issue I guess.
i replaced the 720p glossy screen with the new screen (part number 798926-009) 1080p which should be supported by irisXe.
With the new screen, the picture only occupies 3/4 of the screen as shown in picture. and if I reboot the bios doesn’t recognize the screen and it goes blank. Again I did play around with display settings, display drivers and even reinstalling windows from scratch.
It has nothing to do with video playing.

Let's try these steps
Intel® Driver & Support Assistant the Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics,
These are the compatible display for this model refer to page 31 HP 17 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide. link
You may order the replacement parts on the HP Parts Store, use the HP Parts Surfer to find the part number and If you've already looked for it and couldn't find it on the HP Parts Store, you may want to get it locally at the online store such as Amazon or eBay, etc...as the part numbers are universal.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I tried several things, including Intel driver and support link that you mentioned, display adapter settings and even reinstalling windows. So yes I tried that step earlier.
It doesn’t identify it as second screen as generic pnp monitor (even external display is attached) but don’t think that it needs another driver etc. also the display settings doesn’t give option to go above 1600x900 to 1920x1080.

We have done the basic troubleshooting as per the document and the notebook needs to check to get to know its hardware is faulty, not a software issue.
I'd suggest you contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer or HP Chat Support Team.

Thank you again Praveen to try to help me out. I will live with original screen. It really doesn’t looks like hardware issue.
I am afraid of ordering even recommended screen that you mentioned above, at this point. I am concern that they may not work either. I wonder if anyone else have tried replacing screen with recommended part number with this model.

Found the cable here but the price is not good:
If you want me to keep looking I have a pretty good success rate finding obscure parts
