HP 15-bs179tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP 15 bs179tx laptop gets shutdown automatically at 75-80 percent. It only gets on if i plug in my charger.Sometimes it gets turned off at even 100 percent after unplugging the charger.I have carried out the following steps as the solutions shown in similar complaints in the HP forum.

  • updated the BIOS to latest version using HP software support.
  • uninstalled and then reinstalled the battery drivers in the device manager.
  • calibrated the battery by removing the battery and pressing the power button for 15 seconds or above and then installing the battery.

But these steps didn't resolve my issue.

Is it because the charge cycle of the battery exceeded as i have used the laptop for around 2 years and most of the times i plug in the laptop and work on it for longer.

Do i have to replace the battery??

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is shutting down on the battery mode.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you run a battery test following the steps in the below article and it will give us a better understanding whether it is a hardware or a software issue.
