I found out that my laptop has been shutting off when I unplug it. When I tried to run a battery check, it said it was still in good condition. Before the battery would only last about an hour and it would randomly die and shut down my laptop. I had to plug it back in for it to turn on again, and when I ran the battery test, it would say that I need to replace it. What is the problem that is causing this? Do I need a new battery?

This is a battery issue and replacing the battery will solve this problem

 

Since batteries are consumable parts, this is by design. You can contact HP Support in your region for service options

 

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/ 
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device. 
4) Select the country from the drop-down. 
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences. 
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.
