HP 15 BS 576TX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am using laptop HP 15 BS 576tx. From the past 1 month, i see that my laptop shuts down suddenly. In the event viewer, I found out this due to event id 41. It shows up the following in event viewer.

"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

This is error info in xml format:

I guess it's probably because battery isn't able to hold DC power properly.

Here is screenshot of battery test.

I am about to buy a new battery for this laptop.
Is there any sure way because of which we can conclude that this issue was only due to the battery??

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

I suggest you run an SFC scan. You can refer to this Link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4026529/windows-10-using-system-file-checker

Also download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Thanks for the reply.

I went through the link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4026529/windows-10-using-system-file-checker

and ran this command DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth, then ran this command sfc /scannow.

Both of them ran successfully and gave no errors or warnings.

I already had HP Support Assistant and also have updated all drivers.

I also have licensed windows and updated them .drivers.PNGCapture.PNG

But all of this could not resolve the issue.

Now, I feel that this is definitely a hardware problem. And I suspect that it is due to my laptop's battery.

Please suggest some diagnostic test for checking if battery is the cause for this.

@Swapnil6

Please run a System Test to confirm the Hardware functionality and if the issue persists please perform a Reset. Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04742289

- Shut down the Notebook completely
- Turn it back on, then tap the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup menu screen is displayed.
- Press F2 to select System Diagnostics.
- Click System Tests

We need to isolate if it's a Hardware or OS issue

Run the extensive system test which will take few hours.

If the Notebook shuts down during the Tests then it's a Hardware issue

I ran the extensive test using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows 1.6.3.0. During the test, laptop was not attached with power supply. And when remaining battery percentage was about 63%, laptop suddenly shut down itself automatically. Hence, the test could not get completed and I can't see the test results.

Since the Notebook shuts down during the Diagnostic Test it is not an issue with the OS.

Does the Notebook shut down when you have the AC Adapter connected?

Notebook never shuts down automatically when charger is connected.

And another observation, whenever notebook shuts down suddenly, in order to start it again, I always need to have charger connected, else notebook won't start on DC power after suddenly shutting down.

This seems to be an issue with the Battery since it does not shut down while connected to AC Adapter

I suggest you contact HP Support and check for Service Options
