HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 17-cd1014na

Hello,

I'm looking to get maximum upgrade specifications that i can put in my Hp Pavilion Gaming 17 inch laptop. It's currently using a 512Gb M.2 NVME SSD that came with it factory stock and a 1TB HDD that came with it factory stock. I'm looking to upgrade the SSD to a Samsung 980 Pro M.2 NVME SSD 2TB model and the HDD to a Samsung 870 QVO 2TB SATA 2.5 inch SSD in the hard drive space but dont know if they are compatible with the factory parts that came in the laptop. would these parts be compatible for use?
I'm also looking to upgrade the RAM to its max of 32GB but it's currently using 2x8GB DDR4 2933 sticks, what is the maximum speed i can use in my laptop and can it go any higher than 32GB and can it go faster than 2933?

I do a lot of music production work and the storage used is pretty substantial with the amount of digital software. I also use it for gaming, 3D modelling and Video editing, and could do with an extra storage boost. Hopefully i can get some help with this.

Hi, Alex:

You should be able to perform the upgrades you want, but bear in mind that since your notebook's M.2 slot is only PCIe Gen 3, the most you will get out of the 980 Pro would be limited to around 3,500 MBPS read/write.

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the max memory is 2 x 16 GB and it is for the older 17-cd0xxx model series, so you should be good there.  I'd get DDR4-3200 memory since it is probably easier to find.

Hey Alex

Search for your CPU and open the link to Intel's website.

The specs of ur cpu will show u all information u need.

- the compatibel ram

- the PCIe version (important for ur hard drive ssd upgrade)

And after that you could also search for an other motherboard.

As example: I know that my HP Envy x360 15-aq1xxng has been sold with different model numbers.

So there can be other CPUs on it, but the design and layout of the motherboard is the same.

So I could buy a motherboard with a i7-7500u on it and replace the i5-7200u. because the motherboards is. as I have written, the same.. same connectors.. and so on.
