Hi @DisneyMom09,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP laptop is not turning on. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check Power Source

Ensure the wall outlet is working by plugging in another device (like a lamp or phone charger).

If you’re using a surge protector or extension cord, try connecting the laptop directly to the wall outlet.

Verify Power Adapter and Battery

Make sure both ends of the power cord are firmly connected to the adapter and the laptop.

If your laptop has a removable battery, remove it, then hold the Power button for 15–20 seconds to drain residual power.

Reinsert the battery and reconnect the power adapter.

Perform a Hard Reset

Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, mouse, printer, etc.).

Press and hold the Power button for 15–20 seconds to clear residual power.

Reconnect only the power adapter and try turning it on.

Check for Power Indicators

Look for lights near the power button, on the adapter, or on the laptop itself.

Listen for fan or drive activity when pressing the power button.

If there are no lights or sounds, the laptop may not be receiving power.

Try a Different Power Adapter (if available)

If possible, test with a known working compatible HP adapter to rule out adapter failure.

Check Display

If the laptop powers on (lights/fan) but the screen stays black, try adjusting brightness or connecting an external monitor.

I hope this helps.
