, I’m having an issue with my HP laptop where it won’t power on or show any charging indicators when plugged in. I’ve tried holding the power button for 15 seconds with no response. Previously, I’ve had similar issues where the power and battery lights flickered, but I was able to get the laptop back on. This time, however, there’s no sign of life at all. I hope this information helps with diagnosing the problem. Could you please advise on the next steps?

Hi @Hectorw1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out and providing detailed information about the issue with your HP laptop.

Since your laptop is currently not powering on and not showing any charging indicators, we recommend trying the troubleshooting steps shared below:

1. Basic Power Reset (Hard Reset)

This clears any residual electrical charge that might be preventing startup:

  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter (leave the battery out for now if removable).
  • Try powering on the laptop.

2. Check Power Adapter and Port

  • Ensure the power adapter LED is lit when plugged into the wall.
  • Try a different wall outlet.
  • Inspect the charging port on the laptop for damage or looseness.
  • If available, try using a different compatible HP charger.

3. BIOS Restore:

1) Shut down the computer, keep the charger plugged in

2) Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.

3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.

4) Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
