So a few days ago, my laptop stopped charging unless it is in sleep mode/powered off. It sometimes starts charging without any prompting, and it will last for a moment before it will stop charging again. It always charges when on sleep mode/powered off. So my two questions are, is there anyway to fix this? And would this be a problem with the charger, the power jack, or the battery?

That number will work its model 15-af131dx and it would be from about 2015. The things I would check in the advanced results are the battery age, cycles, and remaining full charge capacity as percent. If the battery has never been replaced, after 4 years its a good bet it needs to be.

With the little information we have we can only guess it could be any of those 3 things going on. Please let us know the specific model number of the laptop, the approximate age of the battery and if you can run the HP Battery test from HP Support Assistant and post the advanced results, that would be really helpful.

well, when you say model number, I'm pretty sure you mean the number? If so, it is P1A95UA#ABA (I don't know much about laptops). The laptop is around 4 years old ( I can't give an exact number because it had been given to me by a family member.)

as for the results from the advanced HP battery check, I couldn't copy and paste the results, nor could I post a screenshot. But if you need specific info from it, I would be happy to provide it
