Hi @Nickwil24,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the detailed description. Based on your symptoms with the HP Omen 16, it looks like the Pc is not detecting the Battery and only works when plugged into an adapter.

Let's try a few steps to get this resolved.

Step 1: BIOS Restore:

1) Shut down the computer, keep the charger plugged in

2) Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.

3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.

4) Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK.

Step 2: Battery Driver Reset

  1. Open Device Manager
  2. Expand Batteries
  3. Right-click and uninstall:
    • Microsoft AC Adapter
    • Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
  4. Restart your laptop — Windows will reinstall them automatically.

Step 3: HP Hardware Diagnostics

Step 4: Check HP Power Command Center

  • Some Omen models have HP Power Command Center or OMEN Gaming Hub
  • Check if charging limits or battery health modes are enabled (e.g., “Maximize Battery Health” may stop charging above 80%)

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
