Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

HP Envy 17 notebook pc
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

When my laptop is in sleep or shutdown mode, the battery charges as expected. However, when I am using the laptop, even though the LED light says AC adaptor connected and charging, it does not charge my laptop. If i remove and re-insert the ac cord, for couple of seconds it shows me that battery is charging and then stops.

The AC cord work perfectly on a different laptop. I have uninstalled the battery drivers. I have done the below steps

  1. Repeatedly press Esc upon startup
  2. Select F2 (System Diagnostics)
  3. Select the desired language
  4. Navigate to component tests
  5. Select Power Source Test - run AC adapter and battery separately if they are not available

Unfortunately nothing works. I installed Windows 10 about 4 or 5 months ago.

My laptop is 5 years old and I have never had this issue before.

@18sk

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

  • 1. Go to Start, search for Device Manager, and open this result.
  • 2. Expand batteries.
  • 3. Right-click on the ACPI option (usually the 2nd option) and select delete or uninstall. Follow the prompts.
  • 4. Shut down the computer.
  • 5. Disconnect the charger.
  • 6. Remove the battery. (only for removable battery)
  • 7. Hold down the power button for 1 minute.
  • 8. Insert the battery only. (only for removable battery)
  • 9. Attempt to turn the battery on.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
