Hi @sakebma2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this, especially with something urgent coming up tomorrow. Let’s try to get your HP laptop powered on again. Since you mentioned a bit of water was spilled, that could be a key factor. Here's what you can do right now:

 Immediate Steps to Try

1. Unplug Everything

  • Disconnect the charger, USB devices, and any peripherals.
  • If the battery is removable, take it out.

2. Dry and Drain

Even if you dried the surface, moisture inside can cause short circuits:

  • Tilt the laptop sideways (keyboard facing down) and leave it in a dry, ventilated area.
  • Use a fan (not heat) to blow air gently into the keyboard and vents.
  • Do not use a hairdryer; heat can damage components.

3. Try a Power Drain

  • Hold the power button for 60 seconds.
  • Plug in the charger only and try powering on.

4. Check for Signs of Life

  • Do any lights blink, or fans spin briefly?
  • If yes, note the pattern; it may indicate a hardware fault.

If Still No Power

➤ Try External Monitor or Keyboard

Sometimes water affects the keyboard or display:

  • Connect to an external monitor or keyboard and try powering on.

➤ Use HP Emergency BIOS Recovery

If the laptop shows no display but lights blink:

  • Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold Power for 2–3 seconds.
  • Release all keys and wait this may trigger BIOS recovery.

If Nothing Works

If there’s no light, no sound, no fan, and you’ve tried all the above:

  • It’s likely a short circuit or board issue due to water.
  • Do not keep trying to power it on; this can worsen the damage.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
