Hi @divyesh_7126,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

The 90B error is a common fan error message that indicates a problem with the cooling system of your HP computer. This error can result from a defective fan, obstructions, or an outdated BIOS. Here's how you can troubleshoot and resolve the 90B error:

Update BIOS and Drivers:

  • Update the BIOS and any relevant drivers to implement new fan characteristics and updates for other components.
  • If necessary, reset the BIOS to default settings.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Conduct a hard reset to clear any recorded thermal values in the memory. This can allow you to use the computer for a short period to access and save files before addressing the error further.

For instructions on performing a hard reset, refer to HP PCs - How to Power Reset Your Computer.

Verify Thermal Conditions:

  • Check Fan and Connection: Ensure that the fan is spinning properly and that all connections are secure.
  • Clean the Fan and Vents: Remove any dust or obstructions from the heat sink fan, fin, and vents.
  • Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tools to test the fan. Make sure it is not producing loud noise and that the blades are spinning correctly.
  • If necessary, test with a verified working fan.

Verify Thermal Solution:

  • If servicing is needed, use the HP Thermal Monitor tool to run a stress test on the processor and GPU. Ensure that all thermal sensors remain within limits.

Resolve a 90B error on a black screen

  • To resolve the error, take the following steps.
  • Press enter to clear the message and allow the system to start to the Windows desktop.
  • Turn off the computer, and then inspect and clean the exterior vents to remove dust buildup by blowing air through the vent openings. Dust can accumulate inside the vent openings and around internal cooling components, preventing the removal of heat.
  • For more information about reducing heat inside your computer, see HP Notebook PCs - Reduce heat inside the laptop to prevent overheating in Windows or HP Desktop PCs - Reduce heat inside the computer to prevent overheating.
  • After you remove the dust, turn on the computer. If the error message persists, continue with these steps.
  • Perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset can reset recorded thermal values in the memory and enable you to use the computer for a short time to access and save important files before service.
  • For more information about performing a hard reset, see HP PCs - How to Power Reset Your Computer.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
