Hp Pavilion 15-ab260nb
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am currently facing some issues with one of our laptops. In fact it doesn't charge anymore,

the white led is blinking and I tried already te trick of removing the power + battery and, when

powered off, holding down the power button for at least 15 seoncds ... it dosen't help.

So I'd like to switch batteries between two laptops but am unsure if I can or not, one laptop

is a 15-ab260nb (with a battery having part number 800049-001) the second one is a

15-ak020nb (with a battery part number 800050-001).

Can I do this? In whatever direction?

      Thank you for any advice.

       Regards,

       Guy

Hi Guy,

Yes you can use the batteries in both models. If we look in service manual for 15-ak020nb we see that it actually accepts both batteries (page 20)

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04823146

Even though the service manual for the 15-ab260nb does not mention the 800050-001 battery, it will work. (eventually get new battery).

You can also try running HP diagnostics test on the battery. Look under component test in link provided below:

Hope it helps,

Hi David,

Thank you for this quick answer. I tested by swithcing both batteries, and the 800049 seems dead, the 800050 works

and charges in both laptops.

Seems like a 2 year old battery needs to be changed ... quite fast to me.
