Do new Spectre x360 series (late 2018 with the color option of Poseidon blue) open with one hand?

Hello @GDar,

I wouldn't bet on it. The late 2017 edition has essentially the exact same hinge design/mechanism and the general design is similar (except the corners) and it was near impossible for me to open it up with one hand. Furthermore, the hinges generally need to be pretty robust and tightened considering that the laptop needs to be usable in all different types of convertible modes.

One-handed mode on the HP Spectre 13 (non-x360) is very easy.

I don't really understand why some people like to emphasize if you can open the laptop with one hand - sure it may speak of build quality in some sense but a super old laptop with a heavy base might be able to open with one hand. Today, laptops are thinner, lighter, and convertible meaning that one-handed mode may become more difficult. The HP Spectre x360 already features amazing build quality and design so you should expect a good experience regardless.

Hope this helps,

Eddy
