The parts list shown here indicate the item you need is L24486-001
It is back ordered at the hp parts store but you might get it here

I'm thinking after reading your reply, might be best to replace the touch pad assembly. Might be the easiest solution for me. Would you please have a part number for me to purchase? Just want to be sure I get the right item.
