Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Left hinge has been broken for some time, I gave up trying to close the thing as the crunching noises were too painful to bear! Now it seems that I have a fan problem too and an error message which pops up on start up. I'm currently limiting my laptop time to prevent overheating but it's not very convenient as I need to work from home sometimes. Seems that I'm not alone with this particular problem and it's infuriating to learn that HP have been fully aware of this issue for years. Unfortunately my computer is now 3 years old, my technical abilities are zero and I def cannot afford a new laptop. What are my options and possible costs. Any help appreciated.

Sometimes cleaning the fan will fix the problem, sometimes cleaning and lubricating, other times you have to replace it.

However, you can try one of these solutions:

1- Make sure your air vents aren't blocked

you can clean it using compressed air cans, but make sure your laptop is turned off

2- Try to minimize your processor usage following these steps:

right click on the battery icon on your task bar

power options

choose balanced mode

then click on change plan settings

click advanced settings

scroll down to processor power settings

expand max processor state tab

set it to 60%

3-Update your bios

4-Reset your bios

if this worked then you might have a dirty fan

5-Let your fan spin at max power

some Softwares allow you to do this

6-Use external fan

cooling pads or some of theses Zacx laptop cooler

Anytime ^^

And the BIOS (I forgot to capitalize it >.<) is the program that starts up your computer basically.
