I have a friend that owns an HP 15-bs115dx laptop, and they're quite happy with the length of the power adapter cord. Have checked a couple newer laptops from other vendors and they have shorter power adapter cords. Anyone know if HP has in the past, and continues to use now, the same length for all their laptop power adapter cords? That detail isn't found in any of the laptop specs that I can see. I'm looking for a new laptop for them and they want to make sure the new one has a power cord that's just as long as the current one.

Edits - Correction for "Power Adapter" cord
The parts information for the "potential" notebook might be listed in Part Surfer.
Example - current product check:
Power Cord
| |||||
L19367-001 | Power cord - C5 connector, 1.0m long, STK Conv (North America) |
AC Adapter
| |||||
| 741553-850 | Smart AC power adapter (45 watt) - 4.5mm barrel connector, non-power factor correcting (NFPC) - Requires separate 3-wire AC power cord with C5 connector |
The Adapter does not include the "cord length" information - this does not mean the information is not available, just that the cord length is not included in the HP documentation on the item.
Consider
If you can find the part number for the Adapter,
Use the part number and take a walk in Google or other favorite search engine results.
The connector code provides a length in the description of the part number.
Power cords are sold separately from the Adapter (you know this).
PartSurfer might be able to tell you exactly which parts came with your computer.

@Dragon-Fur
Thank you!! Your suggestions are very helpful. I located the p/ns for both pieces, it seems the cord has a standard 1m length, and it's the power module/adapter cord length that might be variable and is unlisted. As you mentioned, the adapter part description does not reference the length. I imagine it would be easier to find a longer standard cord than a matching adapter with longer cord. I don't think it really matters which piece of the power connection has the extra length, just so long as collectively they reach the desired distance.

You are welcome.
Regardless of the "way to get there from here" - as long as the unit can be plugged into a safe electrical source appropriate the the device, it is "all good".
Part Surfer is pretty clever - when it can provide the information, you can use the device serial number to get a specific list of parts installed in that machine. "Nice to know"
Stay Safe.
