I ran both the short and long Drive Self-Test options with the HP PC Hardware Diagnostic tool and the short passed, but the long came up with error code RGDMXA-1K194G-9XKSXG-61AJ13. I didn't realize before downloading and running it though that there is actually nowhere for us to check the error codes! Any ideas on what it means?
Thanks!

Your Code comes up:
Hard Disk 1 Full Test Failure
The rest of the Code identifies your machine, the date of the test, etc.
It means that your hard drive will need to be replaced and we are happy to help with that if you wish.
Just post back and let us know.

Thank you, my main hard drive passed both tests, but it was my backup drive that failed (rather ironic!) so I'll look into that as soon as I can 🙂 Do you happen to know if there's a way to test the motherboard? I ran the CPU test successfully but didn't see a motherboard one. Trying to diagnose why my computer bogs right down for a full minute or two at a time after it's been running for a while! 🙂

Need the model number but if it is less than about 5 years old you can do a full hardware diagnostic by tapping esc as you power up then F2 and then you will see a menu of component tests. Run them all in the long form and report back any error codes you see. If it can pass all those tests then the motherboard is OK. If your laptop does not have the diagnostics installed likely there is a download allowing you to make a usb stick and run them from that or just add them to the laptop now.
