Computer died some time last month. I brought it to a local repair shop and he is taking the component pu 15 off the motherboard because it was corroded. I was wondering what this component was as if its essential to computer functionality Im going to have to buy a new computer. I cant find the motherboard specs anywhere. Any ideas?

It is a notebook/laptop therefore you won't be able to find its motherboard specs anywhere. By the way, what is your Pavilion DV7 ? You may be able to find its motherboard part # but not specs.
Regards.

Yeah i have the part number for the motherboard. I it is hpdv7 w/radeon graphics 659096-001 cx1180. The hp dv7 is a rather large laptop. I understand its got kind of a custom built motherboard. I was hoping someone with a similar machine could help identify a specific component on the board (PU15) as that component has shorted on my board and will not allow the machine to function. I am trying to take it off to bypass this component but am wondering before trial and error what this component actually does.
