Hello, I've been trying to find the right CMOS battery to replace the one in my HP 15-dw0xxx laptop. I have called Best Buy, but I guess my laptop is too old now for them to order parts for it. I've looked online, but I still can't find one that will work. I'm confident I can replace it myself; I just need to find one that will be compatible. I replaced the battery myself last year and had the same trouble. I guess my laptop isn't a common one. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Hi:
Unfortunately, I don't.
If I had to take a guess, I'd say that there is something wrong with the BIOS chip not being able to maintain the system clock settings, since you have replaced the main battery a couple of times already.
Normally the problem would be remedied by replacing the CMOS battery but, since your notebook doesn't have one...

Hi:
Most notebooks with internal batteries including yours, do not have CMOS/RTC batteries.
The main battery also serves as the CMOS/RTC battery, and maintains the BIOS and system clock settings.
Below is the link to the service manual.
Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC
You will find no CMOS/RTC battery part number listed in chapter 3, and you will find no procedure to remove or replace a CMOS/RTC battery in chapter 6.

Ah, well that would explain my trouble in finding one! Any idea what the problem could be then? I replaced the battery earlier this year yet still get the BIOS/checksum error whenever I turn my computer on (which it needs to be plugged in for it to turn on) and the time/date always needs reset. I've had my computer for a little over four years now and have replaced the battery twice--do you think it's just getting too old?
