I recently had to remove my battery as it was quite swollen and was getting very hot, but I have had trouble trying to find a replacement battery. I have attempted to contact hp but I have a suspicion that the number I called was hijacked by scammers as I started one conversation with a support employee & the conversation cut out and someone else took over offering completely different information. I was told that hp don’t make the parts anymore and that I should just buy a new laptop then someone else told me that it would cost £340 for a new battery replacement. I am confused about the situation and also desperate for a new battery replacement, if anyone has any suggestions please let me know! thanks

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook:
Chapter 3, page 19 has the battery part number and description:
Battery (6 cell, 72 WHr, 3.16 AHr, Li-ion; includes cable) HP part # L68299-005
You can buy a replacement battery from HP at the link below. It is pretty expensive at £105.17.
Your other option would be to take your chances on a compatible aftermarket battery that references the HP part number.
Check on Amazon or eBay for example and look for a battery that has at least a 1-year warranty.

I believe that a contributing factor that leads to battery swelling is leaving the notebook plugged in to A/C power 24/7/365 with the battery in a constant 100% charge state.
