HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 17-cd1007na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi! My laptop's battery status recently changed to weak so I'm seeking a replacement but struggling to find a reliable seller. I have seen one on Amazon with somewhat decent reviews, but the parts number doesn't match up (says L08855-855 (link)). I believe I need a 52.5Wh, 3-cell SR03XL (L08855-856) but please correct me if I'm wrong!

Thank you.

Hi:

Chapter 3, page 16 of the service manual on your notebook's user guides page indicates the battery part number is L08855-855.

The parts list indicates that battery is also used in the 17-cd model series.

You were right to suspect the part the vendor was selling. I checked it in the HP PartSurfer and it is not compatible with your laptop.

Yes. HP L08855-856 is the correct part number.

I did a search to find other vendors in your UK region of the world.

Thank you for the response!
Sorry if I'm misunderstanding but you said the one searched with HP PartSurfer isn't compatible however the link you provided is for that part. Was that meant to be showing the L08855-855 isn’t compatible?

Thank you so much @Paul_Tikkanen ! I can’t find my laptop’s specific model in that list. But from looking at the manual, does that mean the link I provided should suffice as a replacement?

You're very welcome.

Yes, the original web link you posted should be fine because that battery as you can see from the HP partsurfer list, is used in many different model series, including the 17-Cd1xxx model series such as your model.

Not to mention that part # is also the part number specified your notebook's the service manual.

eBay also lists that part number is good for the 17-cd model series:

Thank you so much!! I have one last question, my laptop says it uses a 3 cell battery and the eBay one says it’s a 6 cell, is that okay or do I need to find a 3 cell specific one?

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

Normally, the more cells a battery has the longer it runs before it needs to be recharged.

The problem I have with the 6-cell option is it should probably have had a different part number.

There are multiple listings of that battery part number on eBay and some don't indicate how many cells it has.

Which did you go for in the end?
I'm in the UK, and have the exact same problem.  My battery is failing for my HP Gaming Laptop and the official replacement is now out of stock, so I'm left searching through alternate sellers and hoping they aren't dodgy.
Did you end up going with the GDORUN from Amazon UK?
