hp laptop 15 bs0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hp laptop 15 bs0xx my laptopcurrentlyrunning on ddr4 2133 sd 4 gb ram, i want to upgrade it. My question is

1. should i upgrade to 4 gb or 8 gb extra ram

2. should i use same frequency of ram of  2133 mhz and 1.2 volts or can i use 2400 mhz of ram instead

3. where should i go for the ram upgrade - hp services center or other third party or i should do it by my own

Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

Look at page 2. You have a 7th generation processor so the memory will run at 2133 mhz speed. Likely the 4 gig module you have in there now is actually a DDR4-2400 but the motherboard runs it as 2133 and will go no faster.

Specified 4 gig module:

4 GB    862397-855

I would just install a second 4 gig DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM module to have 8 in total. Installing in pairs of the same capacity makes sure the memory runs as "dual channel" which is better than single. For the record you could have 2 x 8 = 16 or even 2 x 16 = 32 gigs but for most computer users 8 gigs is enough and it will seem very good after you have been limited to 4. Its certainly the most cost-effective memory upgrade.

See pages 43-51 of the Manual for an idea what you would need to do. Most end users can handle the work.
If you need a video let me know.
