Hi @2xmy

unfortunately lose the USB receiver, you can not replace it, you must buy a new keyboard and mouse.

Here it sounds like there are options?

Lost USB receiver for HP Wireless Keyboard and Mouse - HP Support Community - 8828077

Seems a bit insane, especially with all the other things we do to reduce electronic waste. Here the policy is to throw out keyboard+mouse if the dongle is lost....? Whats the thoughts behind that solution.

If you have a set of those link-5 keyboard / mouse combo then you can obtain a link-5 receiver.   I have no experience with HP's link-5 but it is described here

I think they were sold back in 2012

Look on mouse and keyboard for link-5 or the 5 stars.  if you do not see any link-5 id then as @resistencia wrote you will have to obtain a new set.

there may be programming required supposidly

you can try contacting HP, I just point out that for security reasons a USB receiver has a code for each keyboard and mouse, otherwise anyone could connect to your keyboard or mouse with another USB receiver.

Logitech works with any of their receivers. You just pair them initially. I don't think that should be less secure?
