Hi @Dchil10

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That’s frustrating, especially for a brand-new laptop! The loud fan and excessive heat could be due to background processes, poor airflow, or thermal management settings. Here’s how to troubleshoot:

Check for Background Processes

  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and look for high CPU usage.
  • End unnecessary tasks that might be overloading the system.

Ensure Proper Ventilation

  • Place the laptop on a flat, hard surface (avoid beds or soft materials).
  • Use a cooling pad or elevate the back slightly to improve airflow.

Update BIOS & Drivers

  • Visit HP’s support page and check for BIOS and thermal management updates.
  • Install the latest updates and restart the laptop.

Adjust Power Settings

  • Go to Control PanelPower OptionsChange plan settingsAdvanced power settings.
  • Set Processor Power Management to Balanced or Lower Maximum Performance to reduce heat.

Clean the Cooling System

  • If comfortable, open the laptop and check for dust buildup in the fans.
  • Use compressed air to clean vents and cooling components.

Since this is a brand-new laptop, if the issue persists, consider contacting HP phone support for a possible replacement or repair.

Let me know if you need further assistance! 🚀
