HP Notebook 15-ba013cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop keeps making loud vibrating noise where the heat vents are ( top left side next to power input). It comes up as soon as i open the lid ).

THE NOISE STOPS WHEN I LIFT LAPTOP AND TILT CLOCKWISE 90 degrees.

I cant feel any air blowing at all by the Heat sink vents . I can see the metal fins inside and they are all very clean. No lint or dust.

I ran F2--> System Checks with advanced option and all checks PASSED.

I noticed the checks did not have FAN listed in them.

I bought this at COSTCO in July and noticed the whirring noise was very low when i bought it but now its LOUD.

I called COSTCO Concierge service and they connected me with HP tech Support. HP tech support was not very helpful. Kept telling me its a SOFTWARE issue and i need to pay to get help.

So i asked HP if the sound should go away if i did a factory reset. They said yes.  I reset to factory ( full clean OS and data) but the issue hasnt gone away.

Hi,

It must be the fan making the noise. Since when you move at certain angles it stops, it is most likely is the bearings of the fan which needs to be replaced

Since your PC is still under warranty, I will not go into details how to replace the fan yourself. Contact where you bought the PC or HP support and get it fixed under warranty.

Hope it helps,

David
