My laptop processor is i3-7020u (2 cores, 4 threads). It takes a lot of time to open or close some programming softwares like Anaconda, VSCode etc (despite having 16gb ddr4 memory). Apart from that I am unable to upgrade to windows 11 through windows update. The processor is the only downside and all the other requirements/prerequisites like TPM 2.0, Secure boot, 1 TB HDD, 16gb memory are available. I am wondering if I can change/upgrade the system board. In the user guide of hp 15-da0xxx series laptops, I found some compatible system boards with i5 or i7 8th generation processors(which are faster and more robust than current 7th generation). Is it possible to upgrade the system board ? Are these system boards fully compatible with Windows 11 ? Will I be able to upgrade the OS to windows 11 through official windows updates ? What is the cost of i5-8265u processor system board and from where I can purchase it ? My laptop warranty ended in Dec '20.
Hope an early response.

Hi @neelabh87,
We apologize for the inconvenience, Looks like you want to buy the motherboard on this channel.
Compatibility: While the user guide for your HP 15-da0xxx series laptop lists compatible system boards with 8th-generation Intel processors (i5 or i7), it's crucial to ensure that the new system board is fully compatible with your laptop's chassis, cooling system, and other components. The fact that these options are listed in the user guide is promising, but you should confirm with HP or a professional technician that the specific system board you're interested in is fully compatible with your laptop model.
Windows 11 Requirements: Windows 11 has specific system requirements, including a compatible 64-bit processor, TPM 2.0, Secure Boot capability, and specific RAM and storage requirements. The 8th generation Intel processors (e.g., i5-8265U) are on the list of processors that are officially supported by Windows 11. Upgrading to a system board with one of these processors should, in theory, make your laptop compatible with Windows 11, assuming all other system requirements are met.
through Windows Updates: If your upgraded laptop meets all Windows 11 requirements, you should be able to upgrade to Windows 11 through official Windows updates. However, it's a good practice to check Microsoft's official documentation or support to confirm the upgrade path for your specific situation.
Cost and Availability: The cost of a system board with an i5-8265U processor can vary based on your location, availability, and whether you're buying new, used, or refurbished.
Warranty Considerations: Since your laptop's warranty has already ended, upgrading the system board won't affect your HP warranty. However, keep in mind that the new system board or components might come with their own warranty, depending on where and how you purchase them.
