Hello All,
Good day! We recently purchased this HP Pavilion 14-BF0XX unit/model, opened the maintenance access door and upgraded the built-in 4GB DDR4 memory modules when we noticed there's a (not so sure) M.2 SATA slot. Can anyone confirm?
If the model does really have M.2 SATA slot and enabled, what specific or the likes of M.2 SSD can it support? Planning to maximize this ultraportable FHD mini-beast we just purchased for office work and graphics.
Thank you so much in advance to your inputs! Looking forward...

Hi,
The PC supports M2 SATA III SSD. The best prize performance SSD is considered the M2 Samsung 850 evo. You can use capacity you want. I would recommend at least 250GB if using for OS. The form actor is 2280 (most common form factor)
You can see on page 35 of service manual the steps to install the SSD

You can also take a look at these HP videos for model (click on solid state drive)
Let me know if you need further help,

As long as it is a SATA-3 interface yes it can have VNAND technology like the Samsung 850 Evo and will work fine. Just can't use a PCIe/NVME type M.2 disk:

So now I'm confused. I was reading up on this thread here:
It says that since the laptop is configured for TLC, V-NAND wouldn't be compatible. The laptop mentioned was compatible for M.2 SATA-3 (NGFF) SSDs.

It is the Sata controller which communicates with your motherboard and SSD. So if it has V-nand or not is not a problem. Your PC supports Sata III M2 SSDs and does not support PCIe NVMe SSDs.
Hope it helps,
David
