HP Notebook - 15-ay516tx

Hi Hp Community,

I want to know whether my system supports  m.2 SATA SSD and m.2 NVMe SSD? If yes, then can you please provide me with the link to the best supported ssd? (I'm looking for a SSD with DRAM)

Hi:

Since your notebook only came with a 2.5" mechanical hard drive there is no M.2 slot present on the motherboard to install a SATA M.2 SSD, which were the only M.2 SSD's supported in the model series.

Only the 15-ay notebooks that came with a M.2 SATA SSD from the factory have a M.2 slot.

You can replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD and that will provide the same performance as if you installed a M.2 SATA SSD.

Below is the link to the service manual.

If you look at chapter 3, you find that the M.2 slot is installed with separate parts.

Thanks for the information @Paul_Tikkanen. Also, do you have any idea on which DRAM SSD's would be the best for my model?

You're very welcome.

I recommend either the Western Digital Blue SA510 2.5 SATA SSD, or the Crucial MX500 2 5" SATA SSD.
