Dear Support Forum,

I am thinking of buying an SSD M.2 for my elitebook 820 G1 (a few years old, I know), thus I wonder which models and sizes it can actually mount.
It has a conformant PCI-X port, which can be used for that or a flash cache card; I checked on the guides,  but they don't contain much more...
I see  that this question was also asked for other models. I am available to provide any clarification or further details.
Many thanks!

From the manual:

"120-GB solid-state drive (2242/DS M.2 form factor)
Not supported if 32-GB flash cache is selected
Set as primary storage if selected"

A 240 0r 480 GB minicard SSD should work without issue.  I highly recommend SATA. NVMe types may not be supported. There is no specification as to the type give in the manuals.

Hi @sacie

Unfortunately, your notebook is not compatible with most M.2 SSD products.

There are 2242/DS M.2 form factor SSD products you can use but they are difficult to find, but available.

Google search.

You can use 2.5" SATA SSD products.

Many thanks Erico for your quick answer, that's what I was looking for!

I need one last piece of info, please: provided that the piece has the right 2242/DS form factor, should any size (e.g. 240 GB or 480 GB) work?

Thanks again!
