I have purchased 3 different SSD’s to try ,all make the computer not power up. Tried removing other drive, removing memory and or battery, no recommended SSD’s from this website work for my laptop.

Hi:

Both of the notebooks you reference support SATA M.2 SSD's, not NVMe.

The physical appearance of the M.2 slot is meaningless.

All M.2 slots in HP notebook and desktop PC's look like they will support a NVMe  SSD.

You have to read chapter 1 of the applicable service manuals for the types of SSD's supported in the M.2 slot.

Some support SATA only, some support NVMe only, and some support both.

The 15-bs115dx and the 840 G3 support SATA SSD's only.
