To anyone that can help me.
I have a HP envy x360 m6-w105dx laptop.
From the manual (linked below) it has an M.2 slot compatible with an 256GB SATA TLC SSD.
to that end i purchased a SAMSUNG EVO 860 M.2 250GB SATA SSD. (linked below)
the 860 uses VNAND TLC which is compatible with the motherboard. (linked below)
unfortunatly, the SSD is not being detected anywhere, not in bios, disk manager, disk part, windows explorer, windows 10 installation media not anywhere.
From reading online, it appears that HP disable the port in the factory if an SSD is not factory installed and they then disable advanced options in BIOS so that the port cannot be turned back on. I am not sure if this is exactly the case but its the only logical reason i have came up with as the SSD is completely compatible and i have installed it.
Does anyone know of any way to detect the SSD so that i can flash windows 10 to it and turn it into my primary boot drive?
Any help is extremely appreciated.

We see this every now and then and there has been no official explanation from HP. It appears to go further than the BIOS....the M.2 port is not fully wired to work so there is nothing that can be done. Try reinserting the M.2 disk. Try booting with just the M.2 in it and any other storage removed from the laptop. Try setting the system to secure and legacy boot; anything to get the BIOS to see the presence of the disk. If none of that works you have a dead port I'm afraid.

Hi Huffer,
Thank you so much for your swift reply, its very much appreciated.
I have attempted to resinserte the m.2 disk, attempted to boot with just m.2 and adjusted legacy and secure boot options in bios.
nothing worked.
You bring up a new point i havent seen before which is that its not full wired, if that is true it would be extremely depressing however i would be inclined to disagree with you since its a mulitlayered PCB likely manufacture in a class 1000 clean room and then assembled using advanced wave soldering techniques but maybe your right and its just plain broken. That is quite depressing...
Do you know anything about the advanced bios setting and would this have anything to do with it? i have seen on other threads that there is a setting in advanced bios that essentially turns the port on and off but of course i dont have accesss to advanced BIOS.
Thanks again for your help

The failure to activate the M.2 slot I am not trying to say is an error during manufacture of the motherboard. It's intentional. HP orders a certain run of motherboards without an active M.2 slot even though the external hardware is there. I cannot be sure that is the case but that is what seems to be happening.
