Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The 1TB 5400RPM HDD that came in the laptop has plenty of space but is dead slow. The motherboard had an empty M.2 slot and so I installed an SSD. I want to do a windows installation on the SSD and keep the HDD f/ media storage. The ssd shows up in windows and works. But... the HP bios doesn’t show the ssd. So I can’t select it f/ a windows installation. Any one know how I can get the ssd to show up in the bios and do the windows installation on the ssd.

Did you remove the hard drive while you tried to install Windows onto the SSD? Also please tell us brand and type of SSD you are trying to use. However, if it shows up in disk management in Windows it pretty much has to be compatible with the system.

Hello. Thank you f/ the reply. Here is a rundown of what I have tried. First off it is an SBX 256gb from mydigitaldiscount. After installing the ssd I attempted a basic clone w/ a couple of different programs. The ssd having 4096 sectors while the hdd had 512 sectors made it a no go f/ these various software. So a clean install it is. W/ my windows usb plugged in I can do an install in the hdd but the m.2 ssd never shows up in the bios. This is a pretty new laptop so I don’t have any data on it that I’m worried about losing in a clean install. I figured the laptop would see the ssd if the sata hdd was unplugged when powered on but that theory didn’t work out. The computer just didn’t see any drive. So at the moment the very slow 5400rpm hdd  is what I’m running on Thank you f/ any help or advice.
