If I put a 4th generation m.2 hard drive in a 3rd generation m.2 slot will it be detected in BIOS?

@Zivoch1,

 

Running a 4th gen M.2 NVMe SSD in a 3rd gen M.2 NVMe SSD slot poses no issues whatsoever, other than that the I/O speeds won't exceed 3rd gen speeds.

 

And yes, the drive will show up in BIOS/device manager, etc. just like you would expect.
