M.2 or NVMe slot in my HP 15-da0011la

I would like to know if this laptop model supports both or only SATA. I already want to upgrade but I was planning to buy M.2.

Your notebook, since it has an Intel i5-8250U processor, has a M.2 slot that supports both NVMe and SATA M.2 SSD's.

One thing you should know...

Your notebook's M.2 slot is PCIe Gen 3 x 2 which means that a PCIe Gen 4 x 4 SSD is only going to run at approximately 1/2 of its advertised maximum read/write speeds.

So buy the fastest Gen 3 M.2 SSD you can afford.

If the drive reads at 1750 MBPS, that is still around 3x faster than the fastest SATA SSD on the market.
