My post was just a clarification (as you correctly put it) of Huffer's ANSWER, but I'm glad you found it so helpful!

Big thanks to Huffer EXPERT Level 18 for his invaluable assistance in clearing up any misconceptions concerning 11th gen Intel support for PCIe gen 4.0.

It will be interesting to see if the 15-dw4000 review is confirmed and if it still has a gen3 SSD slot, even with the Alder Lake. If one takes a look at the Intel schematic for that cpu :

....it's obvious that the chipset is still limiting connected devices to Gen 3.0, but there are eight CPU-attached PCIe Gen 4.0 lanes for both a discrete GPU, and a gen4 SSD to be used at the same time. Therefore there is no reason for motherboards of HP laptops that potentially use a discrete gpu (in certain versions) to have the m.2 slot connected to the Peripheral Hub.
