Microsoft Windows 11

I'm getting ready to replace the m.2  system SSD on a HP Pavilion 595-p0074 and can't find any information to indicate the specifications for the m.2 drive. I don't want to spend more on the drive than necessary. Would anyone know what SSD specification it was designed for; Gen 2 or a Gen 3 or a Gen 4? Also if it is for example  supports a  Gen 3 spec is it a Gen 3x2 Gen 3 X 4 etc. What is the fastest read/write the m.2 2280 slot can achieve on this system?

Hi:

The M.2 slot in the Links motherboard your PC has is PCIe Gen 3 x 4.

You can usually find that info out by looking up the model Intel processor your PC comes with.

Intel® Core™ i5-8400 Processor

Normally a slot of that specification supports max sequential read/write speeds of up to 3500 MBPS.

So, a drive with these specs would run at its max capacity, for example.
