@wmzhang824 , welcome back to the forum.

The answer to your question is, yes!  Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the laptop:  http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06148960

On Pages 45 and 46 is a list of compatible M.2, SSD's, and instructions for installing them.

Here is a HP Knowledge Base article that will help you with transferring the OS from your hard drive (HDD) to the SSD:  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Upgrading-Desktop-to-a-SSD/ta-p/7304861

For your laptop, you would install the M.2, SSD, into the socket on the motherboard and follow the instructions in the article.

Thanks, but from the doc you suggested, the biggest M2 sdd is 512GB NVMe. I would assume it also supports 1TB M2 ssd. Please confirm. Thanks

@wmzhang824, yes, I don't know of any reason why a 1 GB M.2 wouldn't work just fine.  The 512 GB is simply the largest SSD that HP furnishes.  I like Samsung SSD's.
