Hi @sridhar6,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your Caps Lock key on your HP laptop is stuck either always on or always off, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try before seeking onsite support.

  • Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve keyboard issues, including problems with the Caps Lock key.
  • Check for Physical Debris or Obstruction: Ensure that there is no physical debris or anything obstructing the Caps Lock key from functioning properly. Gently clean around the key with compressed air or a soft brush.
  • Update Keyboard Drivers: Outdated or corrupted keyboard drivers can cause issues with key functionality. Update your keyboard drivers through Device Manager or HP's support website.
  • Check Keyboard Settings: Sometimes, keyboard settings or accessibility options can affect the behavior of keys. Go to your computer's Control Panel or Settings app, navigate to the Keyboard settings, and ensure everything is configured correctly.
  • Try External Keyboard: If you have an external keyboard, connect it to your laptop and check if the Caps Lock key behaves normally. This can help determine if the issue is with the laptop's keyboard hardware.
  • Perform a System Restore: If the issue started recently and you can pinpoint it to a particular event (like a software update), you might consider performing a system restore to a point before the issue occurred.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
