Hello.
I have a question pertaining to the functionality to my HP laptop I have relied on for som time now. Since I have owned the laptop, it tends to heat up after even a short amount of time. As of several months ago the battery seemed to have given out based on the fact the laptop won’t turn on unless plugged into an outlet via AC cable provided. The laptop also immediately goes black and is turned off if the power cable is removed. Is there any way of fixing this, or can the laptop be sent in or fixed in any way. I have had great confidence in HP products and find this failure very disappointing. Please help.
Thanks in advance,
Jacob

Hello @JACOBE,
A specific model/product number would be appreciated. (Please do not post serial numbers on the HP Support Forum)
Information on how to find a laptop's model/product number is detailed in this HP document.
If you are under warranty, HP can take care of the issue but if you're not, you're unfortunately on your own.
Contact HP Worldwide here.
Phone HP Worldwide here.
Check warranty status here.
Find an HP Authorized Service Center near you here.
Let's first confirm if this really is a hardware issue:
- Repeatedly press Esc upon startup
- Select F2 (System Diagnostics)
- Select the desired language
- Navigate to component tests
- Select Battery
- Also try System Board
Let me know how it goes.
Kind regards,
Eddy

Looks like I’m on my own, as my warranty has expired.
How unfortunate.
