Hello everyone. A few days ago, my HP Laptop 17-cn0010nt laptop gave an installation error while updating the bios. I took it to the HP authorized service. My problem is solved. I came home and When I opened HP Support Assistant, I saw that my laptop model was HP Laptop PC 17-c0000. Also, when I shut down my laptop completely, only the screen turns off and the system continues to work. Is the problem a wrong intervention or have the parts of my laptop been replaced?

Hello @ATAHAN28_
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I can hear how unsettling this situation feels, especially after a BIOS update and service visit. You’ve been very observant in noticing both the model name change in HP Support Assistant and the freezing behavior with beeps.
Let’s break this down carefully:
About the model name change
- HP Support Assistant sometimes displays a generic family name (like “HP Laptop PC 17‑c0000”) instead of the exact retail model (17‑cn0010nt).
- This usually happens after a BIOS update or recovery, because the BIOS string that identifies the product can be reset to a base family name.
- It does not mean parts have been swapped or replaced; it’s a reporting difference in software. The physical hardware remains the same.
About the freezing and beeps
The pattern you describe — freezing after idle, lasting 30–120 seconds, then resuming after several beeps — points to system management or driver conflicts rather than hardware replacement.
Here are the most effective checks:
1. BIOS and chipset update
- Go to the HP 17‑cn0010nt Drivers and Software page.
- Install the latest BIOS and Intel chipset drivers.
- Restart the laptop. This ensures the firmware and power management are aligned.
2. Power and sleep settings
- Open Settings > System > Power & battery > Additional power settings.
- Select High performance or Balanced.
- In Advanced power settings, set “Processor power management” minimum and maximum to 100%.
- Disable “Link State Power Management” under PCI Express to reduce freezes when idle.
3. Graphics and audio drivers
- Update both Intel UHD Graphics and Realtek Audio drivers from the HP driver page.
- Outdated drivers can cause freezes and beep codes when resuming from idle.
4. HP App diagnostics
- Install the HP App from the Microsoft Store.
- Run Diagnose & Fix to scan for system conflicts.
- This tool can reset power policies and driver states that trigger freezes.
5. Memory and storage test
- Restart and press Esc repeatedly, then select F2 – System Diagnostics.
- Run the Extensive Test for memory and storage.
- This rules out hidden hardware faults that could cause intermittent freezes.
Key reassurance
- The change in model name is a software reporting detail, not evidence of parts being swapped.
- The freezing issue is most likely tied to drivers, BIOS settings, or power management rather than a wrong intervention.
- By refreshing BIOS, chipset, and drivers, and adjusting power settings, you should see stability improve.
Would you like me to guide you step‑by‑step through updating the BIOS and chipset drivers first? That’s the most direct way to address both the model name reporting and the freezing symptoms.
