Hi @PATT702,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing trouble with your printer. Let's see if we can find a solution before resorting to more drastic measures. Print head issues can be frustrating, but there are a few steps you can take to potentially resolve the problem:

Manual Cleaning: If a hard reset didn't solve the issue, manually cleaning the print head might help. You'll need to consult your printer's manual for specific instructions, but the general steps are:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the printer to access the print head.
  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with water (or a print head cleaning solution if recommended by the manufacturer) to gently wipe the print head and remove any dried ink or debris.
  • Allow the print head to dry completely before reinserting the ink cartridges and turning the printer back on.

Deep Cleaning or Print Head Cleaning Cycle: Many printers have a built-in process for deep cleaning the print head. This feature can usually be accessed through the printer's menu or via the printer software on your computer. Run this cleaning cycle and then try printing a test page to see if the issue is resolved.

Aligning the Print Head: Misalignment can also cause printing issues. Your printer likely has the option to align the print head, typically found in the printer's menu or the maintenance section of the printer software.

Update Printer Firmware: Sometimes, issues can be resolved by updating the printer's firmware. Check the manufacturer's website for any firmware updates for your printer model.

Replace the Print Head: If none of the above solutions work, the print head itself might be damaged and may need to be replaced. This can be more cost-effective than buying a new printer, depending on the model and the cost of the replacement print head.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
