Hi:

HP retired support for the dv6700 model series since it is more than 10 years old.

You can install 2 x 2 GB of DDR2-6400 memory in your notebook.

Below is the link to the service manual, which is still floating around out there on the internet...

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP, I COULD SEE THE MANUAL, PERFECT.
Anyway, there should be another manual, more modern or updated for this machine, because it is not in this manual the T2390 1.86Ghz Dual Core processor, nor the DVD+_RW with Lightscribe, that this machine has. The type of memory is the same, thank you very much!
P.S.: With W10 64bit, I could not load more RAM?

You're very welcome.

The service manual is the only one available that I could find.

Theoretically the chipset your PC has supports 2 x 4GB of DDR2-6400 memory (that only runs at 667 MHz).

Have you checked the cost of 2 x 4 GB DDR2 memory chips?

They are very expensive.

Also if your notebook has BIOS revision F.45 or newer installed, you can upgrade the processor to the T8100, T8300 or T9500.

Some folks have successfully installed 2.5" solid state drives in the Intel dv67xx notebook models too.

Saludos!

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Exactly, the cost of 2 x 4GB DDR2 is very high, compared to 2 x 2GB, anyway I wanted to know to evaluate the possibility. The machine is very good and may be worth the expense.
I will check the BIOS to see if I can change the processor, thanks for the tip.
The machine already runs a 240GB SSD, which allows to run Windows10 without inconvenience.
Regards!

Anytime;

Glad to have been of assistance.

You can see how much memory the PC can actually handle by doing this...

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator. This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacity and hit enter. There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
