Max RAM and SSD Capacity for my Laptop

Hi, I’d like to confirm the maximum RAM and SSD Storage capacity my laptop supports.

I was told from where I got this that my system is only upgradeable to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of SSD storage.
However, when I ran
the following command in Windows:
wmic memphysical get maxcapacity

the result was:

33554432

which translates to 32 GB.

So I’m a bit confused—does this mean:

• The system supports 32 GB total, or

• 32 GB per slot?

According to Task Manager, my laptop has 2 RAM slots, and currently 1 of 2 slots is in use.

Additionally, I was also told that the my laptop only supports 1 TB of storage. Does this mean:

• 1 TB total, or

• 1 TB per slot?

This specific model also lists 2 storage slots in the official specification sheet.

Could you please help clarify these limits?

HP parts list for your model indicates that it came with 1x16 GB memory. Since your model has two memory slots, the 2nd slot most likely supports a 16 GB module.

Intel specs for your processor state that it supports max 96 GB DDR5-5200 memory (this means that if DDR5-5600 nodules are used, they would downclock to 5200).

Crucial reports that 15-fa2xxx models handle max 64 GB (2x32GB). Crucial guarantees compatibility so, your model likely supports up to 64 GB (2x32 GB).

HP specs for 15-fa2xxx models indicate that they come with two M.2 slots with each supporting gen4 NVMe SSDs. See this post that shows a 2nd M.2 slot.

Generally, M.2 NVMe SSDs have no capacity limit. You can install an NVMe gen4 SSD of any size you want, 1 TB, 2 TB or 4 TB (Crucial offers NVMe SSDs of up to 4 TB).

You should check physically if it has two disk slots. I understand that H processors have only one slot and only HX processors have a second slot.

I totally agree with @resistencia that you should open the notebook to check if a 2nd M.2 slot is present. The service manual shows how to remove the bottom cover on pages 42-43.

Hi, I have confirmed that I have 2 SSD slots in my laptop, I know its kind of weird because before buying this laptop I know that Victus 15s only has 1 SSD slot. but upon checking the spec sheet it indicated it has 2 slots. I have tried opening it now to check and I confirmed it that it has 2 slots and I have already installed a new M.2 SSD to the 2nd slot and its already working.

Reminder: This is only for my specific model Victus 15-fa2401TX (CF1D5PA), Other Victus 15s still has a single slot for SSD so better confirm it.






I have been quite skeptical about this https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_11551870_en-US-1.pdf because it seems that I have a new model of 15-fa2xxx and the guide is still not updated since my RAM speed and GPU is not indicated in the manual so I tried to reach out here.

About the RAM I still did not upgraded it so I can't confirm but I saw it also has 2 slots.

Thank you for reporting that your notebook has a 2nd M.2 slot. Your screenshot also shows that the secondary slot supports M.2 2280 SSDs.

Your findings will certainly help other 15-fa2xxx users.

BTW, if you by any chance are thinking of installing another 16 GB RAM in the empty second slot, click on 'parts list' linked in my first reply and go to Memory (DIMM) and click the camera symbol, which shows SK Hynix 16 GB 1Rx8 DDR5-5600 RAM.

I would think that your model also supports 16 GB dual rank (2Rx8) memory, but if you want to avoid a compatibility issue, it's best to install the same SK Hynix 16 GB 1Rx8 RAM.

Thank you! your answers really helped me 🙂 as of now I think I would stick to my current RAM as RAM prices are really high, but I will consider your suggestion if by any chance RAM prices decrease.
