14-r003la
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys, I bought a Hp laptop 14-r003la three years ago, and now I need to upgrade it, I bought a 120gb SSD and now I need to upgrade memory but Im confused.

Technical specification said that It can be upgrade to 16gb maximum 12800 1600ghz memory (https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04314729), but my processor is N2840 (14r00l3a has came with n2830 and n2840) and the tecnichal specification was only 8gb 10600 1333mhz (https://ark.intel.com/es/products/82103/Intel-Celeron-Processor-N2840-1M-Cache-up-to-2_58-GHz), so... how is the really max mem that I can upgrade my laptop?.

Thanks for all 🙂

Hi,

Your PC supports max 8GB of DDR3L-1600Mhz which will run at 1333Mhz. There is only one slot and the maximum in each slot is 8GB. This is because you have the Celeron Processor. The other models in the same series which have core Processors will have two slots and thus can have 2x8GB for a total of 16GB.

Hope it helps,

David

Evidently a typo on your Specs page.:smileyhappy:

Thanks for your response , a Typo error from HP or Intel?, see that HP, in Mexico, Ecuador, US, etc. said 16gb maximum 12800 1600ghz memory, but Intel said  8gb 10600 1333mhz, my default mem was a 4gb 12800 mem, so... maybe the typo error was from Intel and I able to upgrade to 16gb.

I'm pretty sure HP pages are wrong. I would go with what Intel says.

Intel in Argentina said that my mem run at 1600mhz, but in other pages it said that only run at 1333: https://www.intel.com/buy/ar/es/product/laptops/hp-14-r003la-518606/technical-specifications

Who to believe?

Sooo... I will buy a 12800 DDR3L 1600MHZ 8GB memory for my beloved low energy Celeron HP.

Thanks for all guys :V

Your welcome.

Yes that will work. You can also consider upgrading to an SSD in the future which will be a more noticeable upgrade and will increase everyday performance of the PC.

>  Intel in Argentina said that my mem run at 1600mhz,

That is the RAM's maximum speed, but the RAM can also function at 1333 Mhz.

> but in other pages it said that only run at 1333:

INTEL says that the processor supports RAM at 1333 speed -- implying that "slower" RAM will not work,

and implying that "faster" RAM (1600) can "under-clock" itself to run at 1333 speed.

Both are correct.
