HP 255 G8 Notebook PC (347S5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello.

Just wondering if anyone knows for sure what the max ram is that I can put in the laptop.

The manual says it has 8gig and upgradable to 16gig.

However, the Crucial site says it can be upgraded to 32gig and cmd vmic  memphysical get maxcapacity says it can be upgraded to 64gig.

I kinda can't believe that either is true?

Thank you, in advance for your time.

Hi:

The 255 G8 service manual only shows info for the older Ryzen 3xxx processors.

I checked the 255 G9's manual and the info there seems more relevant to your notebook's actual hardware.

That manual indicates 2 x 16 GB of memory is supported.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

Run the command to include checking the SMBIOS memory support and see if it also reports 64 GB:

 wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx

I'd play it safe and stick with 32 GB.

That is probably way more than you would need anyhow.
