HP Pavilion - 15-cc055od

My computer is getting really slow and takes a long time to boot up. Is it a RAM issue? What is the largest amount of RAM I can have in my laptop? If it isn't a RAM issue, how can I make my computer faster and boot up faster?

Its specs

         https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05582722

It has  8 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB) now. You can upgrade to

   (a) 16GB: add same 8GB to slot 2 or using the following RAM (will run at 2133MHz)

              https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct8g4sfs824a/ct14248401

   (b) 32GB: install 16GB each to both slots using the following RAM (will run at 2133MHz)

            https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4sfd824a/ct14360734

After upgrading RAM, please try

One more option: Add M.2 SATA SSD to your machine then move Windows/Programs to it then use old HDD for data/files. You can add the following compatible drive

           https://www.crucial.com/ssd/mx500/ct1000mx500ssd4/ct14248366

Regards.

@nick441 , welcome back to the forum.

The first thing that I would recommend is doing a System Recovery if you haven't done so recently.  This will basically take the laptop back to its original performance level.  The next absolutely best upgrade would be to a M.2, SSD, boot drive.  Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the laptop:  http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06525445

On Pages 43 and 44 is a list of compatible SSD's and instructions for removing and replacing them.  This will be much less expensive than memory and will most likely solve your slow boot problem.

I will never have another computer without a SSD boot drive.  It simply speeds up all daily functions.
